All widths stated relate to the space you want to fill with a metal gate. The Gate Workshop craftsman made metal gates automatically allow for the hinges supplied with that gate.

Hanging with Posts
If you plan to hang your metal gates on posts you need to allow extra space for them. Dimensions for the posts required are stated on the web page for that specific gate.

Hanging on Brickwork & Walls
1) If you plan to hang your metal gates directly from brickwork or walls you need to measure the overall gap you wish to fill.
2) All of our metal gates come with adjustable hinges allowing for a small degree of flexibility. If ordering a pair of metal gates allow a small gap where the two will join in the centre. If ordering a gate to be hung from the right or the left, make your selection viewed from the roadside or front of your premises.
3) All of our metal gates allow for a 2" (5cm) ground clearance under the gate. i.e. the actual gate size is 2" (5cm) smaller than the measurement given.
4) Metal gates come primed in black and require a top coat as soon as hung. All quoted weights are approximate and relate to the largest gate of a specific range.

Hanging with Posts
1) We do not particularly recommend hanging wooden gates directly from brickwork or walls and that you use wooden posts.
2) For a pair of wooden gates allow 1/4 - 1/2 inch gap where the two will join in the centre and a similar amount each side to accommodate the hinges near the posts.
3) If ordering a gate to be hung from the right or the left, make your selection viewed from the roadside or front of your premises.
4) All of our wooden gates are supplied allowing for a 2" (5cm) ground clearance under the gate. i.e. the actual gate size is 2" (5cm) smaller than the measurement given.
5) Except for Field and Ranch gates which are pressure treated, all wooden gates are made in Scandinavian Redwood supplied with a cedar base coat and need treating with a high quality preservative prior to hanging. All quoted weights are approximate and relate to the largest gate of a specific range.
